Buenos Aires, December 19 (NA) – Actor Marco Antonio Caponi broke his silence after comments and speculation about his physical appearance multiplied in recent days, and sharply criticized the media focus on his body.
According to the Argentine News Agency, in a direct message on social media, Caponi rejected the debate and demanded that public attention be shifted to more serious social and political issues.
«These days, a lot has been said about me, whether I was fat or not. All the newscasts came out, all concerned,» the actor expressed, visibly annoyed by the fallout.
He then showed himself as he is: «This is me, this is my clothes, this is my face. We don't talk about other people's bodies,» he launched, questioning the standards and constant scrutiny of bodies in the media and on social networks.
The actor took the opportunity to shift the focus of the debate and issue a strong wake-up call: «Talk about important things,» he asked, and listed a series of issues that, he emphasized, deserve priority coverage: the situation of public universities, the disability law, the conflict in Mendoza over the San Jorge project, and the environmental impact on water and glaciers.
«There are millions of other things we should be talking about,» he stated before closing his message bluntly and without beating around the bush.
«And what's the problem? There's no trick here». Without mincing words, Caponi accepted the criticism without dramatizing, but drew a clear line: «Yes, I'm fat».
